Scripture:
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
Devotional:
In John 13:35, Jesus gives a simple yet profound command: to love one another. This love isn’t superficial or conditional; it’s a reflection of the selfless, sacrificial love Jesus showed us. It is through this love that we bear witness to the world that we belong to Him.
This Scripture challenges us to think about how we treat those around us. Do our actions reflect the love of Christ? In our words, deeds, and even thoughts, we have the opportunity to demonstrate the transformative power of His love.
When we love one another as Jesus loves us, it goes beyond kind gestures; it’s about choosing to serve, forgive, and care for others, even when it’s difficult. This love shines brightest in moments of conflict or indifference, revealing the depth of God’s grace at work in us.
Living out this love requires intentionality and humility. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. Through our love for others, we draw people closer to Christ and glorify His name.
Reflection:
How do your actions and attitudes reflect Christ’s love to those around you? Are there relationships where you need to practice forgiveness or reconciliation? Think about one way you can demonstrate selfless love today.
Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, thank You for the example of love You have given us. Help me to love others as You have loved me, with humility, patience, and grace. Teach me to see others through Your eyes and to reflect Your love in all I do. May my love for others be a testimony of Your work in my life. Amen.”
Action:
Today, look for an opportunity to show Christ-like love to someone in your life. It could be through a kind word, an act of service, or offering forgiveness. Let your love point them to the One who first loved us.
